Who are the Coaches?
All coaches for Charter All-star teams must be accredited by Baseball Australia. Manager (Head Coach) must have a minimum of Level C accreditation and Assistant Coaches must have a minimum of Level B accreditation.
The Charter committee will appoint a Manager (Head Coach) as the head coach for the All-star teams and Little League Division 2 Team. Managers (Head Coach) will nominate two assistant coaches and an executive officer (for Charter Committee approval) to complete the coaching Staff.
What is the team’s chance of reaching the National Championships and World Series?
The chances of the team are difficult to gauge as the standard of players who nominate varies from year to year as does the strength of the other competing teams. There will likely be 8 or 9 teams compete at the State Championships and Little League WA will announce how many teams will qualify to compete at the Nationals.
Although the competition is tough any player who nominates must be prepared and available to compete with the team up to and including the World Series.
What is a Charter?
Junior baseball in WA is administered under Little League International rules. Under these rules teams are formed in Charters which are generally based on geographical areas all around the world. In WA, Charters are formed by groups of clubs that are near each other. In our case Southern Hills Warriors Charter is made of the following clubs:
- Gosnells
- Harrisdale
- Kelmscott
- Roleystone
The clubs that make up a charter can change from time to time. Charters select an All-star team in each age group to compete in the State Championships. Teams that are successful at their State Championships progress to compete in the National Championships. The National Champion Charter All-star team earns the right to compete at the corresponding World Series in the USA.
How many players will be selected?
Tournament rules dictate that between 12 and 14 players are selected for the team.
What is the Selection Process?
Try-out sessions will be used to assess the skills and attitude of players. At the completion of the try-out sessions a selection panel will choose the team. The Selection Policy is available on this website in the main menu under "Policy's". Note: The policy may change from time to time.
When will I find out if I have been selected in the team?
The earliest date that the team and coaches selected can be announced is 1st February. The committe will contact you to let you know if you have been selected after this date.
