Boys and Girls
Rugby is a game everyone can enjoy, no matter what shape, size or age you are. Playing rugby is also a great way to meet life long friends.
Junior rugby pathway games are suitable for both girls and boys. In the modified pathway game girls compete equally as well as boys and can play up to U13. Girls can then compete in U15 & U17 girls teams before playing in the Woman's Competition
Ourimbah Rugby Club prides itself on being a family oriented club with a focus on everyone getting a game in a friendly atmosphere.
Junior players follow the rugby pathway of modified games. The games have been specially adapted to be more suitable for the player's age, physical capability, skill level and previous experience.
Walla Rugby (5 - 7 years) – Played on a modified field with 7 players per team, it's a simple, non-tackling introduction to the game that concentrates on passing, receiving, running and evasion as well as team skills.
Mini Rugby (8 - 10 years) – Continues the theme of running and passing. Importantly, however, this 10-a-side version introduces the young players to the some of the contact elements - all in a safe, controlled way.
Midi Rugby (11 - 12 years) – It continues the theme and principles of Mini Rugby with a greater emphasis on the contest for possession.
Under 19 laws (13 - 17 years) – For 13 years and above, kids enjoy playing the full 15-a-side game.
