ETIQUETTE AND EXPECTATIONS   FOR JUNIORS

  • Always start your serve with 2 balls – use your pockets or shorts, skirts to hold the 2nd ball.
  • Never leave balls on court during play.
  • Do not try and walk behind a court with points in play.
  • Always return opponents service balls directly and nicely, preferably under the net.
  • Do not return serves which are definite faults, push them carefully to the side of the court or safety behind you.
  • Make sure that you have sent balls from your end to the server  if they choose not to start with 2 it is not your responsibility to return the first service ball ( if fault)  it is their responsibility to have 2nd ball close at hand.
  • If you strongly disagree with a line call or with a score call you need to call an official to assist with the decision – do not play on, otherwise you may agree to replay that point.
  • Always act respectfully to partners and opposition.
  • Follow all rules regarding behaviour on court e.g. no throwing or misuse of rackets.
  • To return balls from other courts roll to behind their court or wait until play has stopped and pass it back to them.
  • If a ball comes across your court during play you have the option to call ball on court and stop play. You then remove the ball and start that point again.
  • If you aren’t sure if the ball was in or out, always give the benefit of the doubt and call it in.
