Welcome to the Bidi-Bidi Room, which is the Music/Art and Science room. Bidi-Bidi means butterfly in the Wajarri language and just like a butterfly we are looking forward to a very colourful, happy and interesting year accompanied by lots of wonderful Music.
This year we made a lovely start to Art by sending our first piece of Artwork back to the classrooms, they look great. Each class made an artwork representing their new class names: Gundawa, Jindi-Jindi, Marlu and Warida.
Last week two classes had so much fun mixing colours in shaving foam. Then they pressed blank white paper on top to "print" the colourful design. The year 5/6 are currently making a multi media piece incorporating photography and technology. Can't wait to see the finished product.
In Music the children have been learning new songs and dances. They have had a great time playing some of the instruments too, including the class percussion instruments, glockenspiels and later on the recorder and the ukulele will be introduced.
We have many lovely lessons planned for Music and Art this year.
We plan to go on an excursion to view local artwork around our city.
We are having an incursion with a Fantastic local artist, Jay Roberts, to teach a class of print making on textiles.
We already have the Musica Viva concert booked for term 4: "Adam Hall and The Velvet Players", playing in the style of 1950's Jazz.
So, looking forward to a fabulous year of Music and Art, with best wishes and cheerio for now from Mrs Van Herpen.
